This model was created for closeup ignition sequence.

This model was constructed out of metal and high temperature resins

to withstand the pressure of launch simulation and do it repeatably.

We have Ignition, Sir!

An explosion, created by Pyrotechnican Joe Viskocil,

simulated the takeoff of the Saturn 5 booster.

A team of 8 technicians working at Digital Domain and led by Gene Rizzardi,

scrubbed, re-painted and re-glued and re-detailed this model and it was was ready to go

again in about two hours after it was burnt and blackened.
