Model Gallery 3
Godzilla
West Side Highway - This model
presented many challenges
for the model makers, We had to
combine the rented model buildings from
Digital Domain, the roadway and
platforms from Cinnabar and the tanks
and model cars from our own Godzilla
Model shop, As with all the models
in Godzilla, they combined the talents
of many shops and individuals. Our
challenge was to make it look like
one crew built it all.
West Side Highway -
this larger view can give
you the scope of this project. When
the parts arrived
we had less than three days to get
it ready.
1/6th scale NYC Cab -
this cab arrived in pristine condition
from John Stribers Visual Network
shop. Our job was to
make it look like Godzilla ate it,
and re-power it
to speed it up for High Speed photography
and bridge
jumping sequences. Special thanks
to Robert Steuer for handling the
chores for repairing it after many
trips through the
gauntlet. Our Boss Gene Rizzardi
handled the driving
chores.
1/18 scale cars- many of these
diecast models were
used to create the car flipping
and crushing sequences
we were very fortunate to find the
Chevy Caprice cab
and through the work of Robert Steuer
and Jerry Miscevich
we converted the cab model to a
police car.
1/24th scale vehicles
- Many model kits were assembled
and modified to create the vehicles
for Godzilla
Here is one van that was used in
a few scenes
Madison Square Garden
1/24th scale - This Model
was built in Mike Joyce's Cinema
Production Services
shops, our Godzilla model team assembled
the pieces and
dressed the set for the teriffic
explosion. Joe Viskocil
and his crew did the pyro work.
