"Titanic"
Deck of the Titanic - This view
of the 1/20th scale model shows the details requires to
achieve the realism necessary for James Camerons movie.
The deck is laser scribed pine
plywood aged to match the full size set in Mexico.
The benches and deck chairs are duplicates
of the actual deck furniture of the Titanic. The light
fixtures are cast in white metal.
Those smokestacks have 4000 rivets each!
Titanic 1996
This 1/20th scale model of the forward hull section
was built to duplicate
the Titanic that James Cameron saw in 1995, using actual
footage provided by Lightstorm
Entertainment and James Camerons input, this model
represents the most accurate view
possible. The model hull was constructed in similar
fashion to the 1912 version, but we
added sheet metals including lead to form the damgaes
areas, the deck details are a mixture
of various materials including breakfast cereals and
hot and spicy cheetos.
Here is a version showing the approaching Russian Mir
submarines. These tiny subs were built by
Brazil Design, and they feature working lights. A larger
scale model of the sub was built for an underwater shot.
